Ask Me No Questions #12

" 'You gave up because everything stopped being easy. Just because you couldn't conquer this thing like you always did. I think, Aisha, that you're always thinking about doing or saying the right thing. Wearing the right clothes. Blending in. But sometimes...sometimes you have to tell them who you really are. What you really think. You have to make them see us.' " (page 147)

Bottom line is that you should always be real and not put on an act about who you really are. You don't want to lie about your appearance or the way you think. You want to be real to everyone and shine like a star and be yourself. If you do that that's a start to a good relationship friends or something more serious. I especially like how Nadira mentions that Aisha worries about... Wearing the right clothes. Blending in. But sometimes...sometimes you have to tell them who you really are. What you really think. You have to make them see us. This really stuck out to me because who you are on the outside is nothing like whom you are on the inside. You can have the uggliest person on the outside but a sweet person on the inside. I love that Nadira speaks out towards Aisha. I hope that Aisha really grasps and takes into consideration what Nadira Says!

  1. Good job DaVaughn! This blog totally touches on inner-beauty. Yea, I totally agree that Aisha cares WAY too much about what other people think. You made some REALLY good comments on inner beauty, great job there. But there are a couple questions in here. Why do you think Aisha is acting like this? Is it because she doesn't want to stand out to avoid attention? Overall, great blog!

  2. Hmmm....

I've thought about the fact that she might not want to stand out because she wants to seem normal and not stand out. Maybe if she stood out she'd feel weird and not be proud about herself!

  3. That may be true but also, she might be trying to avoid attention because she is illegal....What you said is definably a possibililty though....

  4. I totally agree with you Davaughn she needs to be herself. Everyone should always be themselves. She really should take Nadira's advice. I think She put on such an act because she was too worried about what other people thought.

  5. I agree with you guys a lot too! She really does need to be herself and show others who she really is. You did a great job talking about inner beauty and being yourself. I agree with Amanda, I think Aisha put on the act because she was worried about what others thought. Nice work!

  6. I agree with everybody, she needs to be herself. It doesn't matter what you wear but who you are. Its about being beautiful on the inside not the outside.
    Great Job!

  8. I think there is two different "selves" here. It seems to me that people are talking about more then one thing. There's Aisha being herself as a person, and then Aisha being herself as a immigrant from Bangladesh.

  9. In this case I liked that Nadira spoke out to Aisha, because before Aisha was making negative comments. Either way it was important that she spoke her mind, even if Aisha wasn't making negative comments. Aisha needed to know the importance of being her self. I think Nadira did the right thing and did a great job speaking her mind to Aisha, because it might help them both in the long run. (Aisha was being mean because she said that Nadira didn't make a difference with the judge.) I believe Nadira did and I am glad that she didn't break down, but instead used that energy to speak her thoughts to Aisha!

  10. i agree with you all. i think Aisha wastes a TON of time practicing sayings and picking out clothes, when she should just show the real her. It takes way to much energy to care what other people think of you and what you should really care about is how you think of your self.

  11. Great Post DaVaughn!
You made some really great points. I really like this part. "This really stuck out to me because who you are on the outside is nothing like whom you are on the inside. You can have the uggliest person on the outside but a sweet person on the inside." That was one of the best points in the blog. You spoke your mind and it turned out really good!

    I totally agree with Falcon!

    Katy,
You made a great point about how there are two different "selves" in this case!

  14. I totally agree with you! You're right it's wrong to lie about who you really are no matter what the truth is. Also I would like to mention that Lying is bad and avoiding the truth or running around it is the same as lying. It's not right. That what Aisha seems to be doing though. She has completely lost it. I don' think she will recover.

  16. I don't know about that Kalli- for some people, some not all, for example, Aisha, it's more difficult to be who she really is. The persona she built around herself, her real self, is shattered, and look how badly it has affected her. Personally, i think it's specific for each person.
